This deviation submission form is different than the last one I used. Lets see if this goes to scraps like it's supposed to.

Anyhow, that dull looking gray box with text represents a map, or more specifically, several maps. I may or may not draw a nice artsy real map to go with it later. I've been back into Zelda lately, and for fun I thought I would see how well the maps from the different games lined up. The games all have somewhat different geography, so any alignment between them is largely coincidental, but I was still surprised how well some things were able to line up.

I collected some game maps from various places on the internet, and began work. I started with the map of Twilight Princess, for GameCube, and went back the immediate predecessor, Wind Waker, and lined it up. This seemed like it would be tricky, due to Wind Waker being based on a flooded ocean-like Hyrule. I picked two landmarks and lined them up, and was pleasantly surprised how many other things happened to fall into alignment. I remember reading somewhere that Wind Waker is considered to be an alternate time line than Twilight Princess, but both are based on Ocarina of Time, so geographically I feel they are both ripe for comparison. In a detailed map of Hyrule, the islands in Wind Waker may be good places to put mountain tops.

The next task was including Ocarina of Time. Death Mountain seemed to be the most reliable landmark, so i started with it, and tried to get the terrain to overlay with that of Twilight Princess. Some things lined up, and some things moved, but the things that moved seem to be things that might move as time passed. I then compared Ocarina of Time's landmarks with Wind Waker, and found that several spots lined up without making any more adjustment. Some made sense and some seemed like a stretch, but was overall satisfying.

For some reason I figured I'd throw in Majora's Mask, so I lined it with the edge of Ocarina of time. There may be some debate over whether Termina was a different dimension as Hyrule, or simply geographically distant. I prefer the geographically distant viewpoint myself, and I can't map other dimensions anyhow. A comparison with landmarks on the other two maps seemed to reveal some good coincidental alignment that work pretty well, so it really fit in fairly well.

Lastly I took a map from Zelda 2, and lined it up with Twilight Princess, using Death Mountain and the Cemetery as the points of alignment. It had an arrow pointing towards the supposed homeland of one of the Links (Calatia). It was off of the map, but seemed to point so well at the home village in Twilight Princess (Ordon) so well that I went ahead and assumed that they were the same place.

Other than Calatia, I generally didn't move anything from where it was on the maps, with the exception of one thing, geographic north. Yes, I moved the north pole, or more specifically, I rotated Hyrule's continent. If one were to assume that Hyrule has been steadily rotating, it may lead to a convenient way to measure the time that passes between the various legends. That is really a fun notion to me, and brings into question whether it might be used to settle disputes of what order the game plots occur in. First of course, one must decide if Hyrule is moving quickly counter-clockwise or slowly clockwise.

I tend to like the clockwise direction, because it allows me to make assumptions about Hyrule's location on the globe, based on how Hyrule and Termina seem to line up. Basically, Hyrule is far up in the northern hemisphere, and may even include the north pole within it's borders. The assumption requires that Wind Waker take place far in the future in comparison to Twilight Princess, but there is really no conflict there.
